Selcuk University is one of the Turkish public universities and a university was established in the city of Konya. The idea of establishing a university in the city of Konya began in early 1955, when the signatures of more than half of the parliament members were collected at the time, but the idea did not receive the approval of the Minister of Higher Education. Indeed, on April 11, 1975, the university was established. It included two faculties, 7 departments, and 327 students. It began providing educational services in the year 1976/1977. The university currently includes 21 faculties, 6 institutes, 6 institutes of higher education, 22 higher institutes for vocational training and one national music institute. Currently, the university's president is Professor Mostafa Shaheen.
