Ege University was inaugurated on November 5, 1955 in the city of Izmir, and is the first public university established in the Ege region.
In the beginning, it contained two colleges, the College of Medicine and the College of Agriculture. With the passage of time and rapid development, and after the completion of its construction, it included 14 colleges, 9 institutes, 6 institutes of higher education, 1 music institute, 10 higher institutes for vocational training and 30 centers for research and applications.
Prof. Dr. Jean-Davier Belmaz and his assistants, Prof. Dr. Atilla Selko and Prof. Dr. Samih Atlish, hold the position of President of the University. The number of university students in 2011/2012 was about 50,992 students and 4,748 graduate students, and the number of faculty members was about 3,135 teachers and more than 4 thousand people in the faculty Administration .
