Dicla University is a Turkish public university located in southeastern Turkey in Diyarbakir. It was affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Ankara University in 1966, but in 1974 the Faculty of Science was opened and named at that time as Diyarbakir University at Ankara University, and in 1982 it became independent and was named Tigris University after the Tigris River which was built on its banks.
It includes more than thirteen colleges and more than eleven higher institutes and a number of research centers, in addition to the Tigris Hospital in various specialties, and many vocational and technical institutes and governmental and civil research centers in many fields.
